I was going to originally do a sweet vintagey outfit but when I opened my closet this morning I realised that both the articles of clothing I was going to wear are going through a tailoring process, but I was so tired of wearing dresses to church. So I decided to go basic but use color to make it interesting, it worked well. I got compliments, primarily on my "cute waist" and motivated somebody to go to Yoga class so I consider it a success.

My Heart on my Sleeve
Just wanted to mention that this whole outfit was about $7.
It was 50% at Goodwill on Friday and I stocked up on some great pieces, which with this outfit included the pencil skirt and the necklace. Most everything else was a gift or hand-me-down. So here's an outfit that shows that it doesn't take a lot to look good. :)

Wickedly Green With Envy
So I saw wicked for the first time. And I thought, "What could be more appropriate to wear than a green and black dress for this occasion?" So I thoroughly enjoyed it, and was happy to see that my favourite favourite dress was used to make even better memories and more occasions to wear it to than my slightly awkward senior homecoming.
The next day I watched the Dark Knight for the first time, in which the character Rachel wore a fantastic number and I thought, "What is it about this evening dress I like so much?" And then, no brainer, it was dark emerald green! And let me tell you one thing, dark emerald green is my favourite color and I don't understand where the term "Ugly green dress" came from because I think most everybody looks great in dark green. So there you go. :)

Fashion Resolutions For July and August
So I'm pretty much broke. Shocker, I'm just out of high school and can't find any job imaginable for summer. But I also want to make my self over for college. My sister and I call it: Get Hot for College Plan. But that primarily refers to the diet I'm on and the fitness plan, but we call it that too. So here's the plan before I move up and out of here:
For the Month of July:
For the Month of July:
- Only buy thrift and second hand
- Clean out every drawer and corner of my closet and donate unwanted clothes
- Take in every skirt and too-big but desirable piece of clothes I own
- Make at least one new thing
- organise and clean out my jewellery so I can actually use it all without having to de tangle it or dig for the other earring
- redo the format of my blog :)
- Purchase hangers and containers that can hold more than one article of clothing to maximise my college closet
- Buy the staples you need: Coat, galoshes, jeans, thermals, winter clothes
- Continue buying most things at a thrift or second hand store to keep my look original
- Get a haircut, maybe a new way?
- Redo my makeup bag and refresh the basic day-to-day look
- Stock up on hygienic and beauty products to last me the Fall semester.
- Buy some September Fall issues and make some some more inspired looks
- Look chic for back to school :)
Hello Salzburg!: Tourist Chic Part IV
I was really wearing the same thing I did in the last tourist post for our first day in salzburg because we were traveling most of the time. My hair was a disaster this day because I tried to curl it and it was wayyyyyyy too humid from the rain the day before to do absolutely anything. Fortunately I tied it back in a very chic pony tail that night to save myself from a disaster.
Anywho, here's one of places where the Sound of Music was filmed, it was a sweet tour to see all the places from the movie, except for one thing...I've only seen the last twenty thirty minutes of hte movie so I felt guilty for not knowing what they were talking about. My little secret. Anyway, this was also our last day at Salzburg. We only spent two days as opposed to the five in Vienna.

On the Beautiful Blue Danube: Tourist Chic Part III
This was right behind our hotel, in fact, it was its patio where we had breakfast every morning. It is what Strauss wrote a song over and a very famous song which we all know if you heard it. The Beautiful Blue Danube. And it is beautiful. Until I went for a walk down the beautiful sidewalk there as you see with one of the chaperones and discovered a huge transportation of cars on a boat, a lot of mud, and an icky green color by the bridge, but you know, Beautiful Green Danube kind of works too, eh? It was a beautiful day and I wanted to cry because we were leaving this place. Goodbye my beautiful Vienna!

Summer Air
Fashion Challenge: Garage Band Indie Concert in....Hello the Mind Control's lead singer's garage and backyard. The weather? Hottest day of the year, debatedly. 110 peace of cake. So what's a girl to wear when she wants to impress cute musicians and super Indie stylish girls and not sweat to death?
Well, for living in one of the hottest places, and a general summer philosophy remains the same: pick very light things which have a lot of interesting details. Editing. Having one special quirky piece.
What I've observed is that guys and girls at garage band concerts can't go wrong with a vest or a scarf. I was going to wear jeans but it was just a little to much.
My result, Success. :)

I still sweated a lot, but I enjoyed all the great bands that played crazy songs about Brushing your teeth, rainbows, and the Summer Air. :)

Tourist Chic Part II
Here I am at Schonbrunn Palace, the Austrian Emperors' summer cottage, and i threw on my sweater early that day to find that it was actually hotter than I expected, so my sweater's debut sadly was cut short, but it did enjoy going to see all the pretty statues and the palace with over 2000 rooms with me. This is also in Vienna.
This day we were in the streets by a huge Gothic Chapel and because almost every Austrian speaks English so our group started talking to this one guy who was standing in the street in a unusual gettup with flyers. He was a music student from a Spanish country, maybe Spain, and he was telling people who looked like they were American or not. And then I showed up and he said, in his Spanish accent, "You are not American." Humored, I replied, "I'm not?" and he asked, "No, what are you?" And I explained how I was with these people but that I have Dutch heritage of some sorts. And he says, "Dutch? Ohhhh, like Polish! Right!"
My heart smiled. I felt like I accomplished not looking like the conventional touring American: jeans and t-shirt, straight hair, etc... And it also reinforced this feeling that kept crossing my mind that I felt like I am very much like a European in more ways than one.
Enjoy:

Tourist Chic Part I
So my challenge to myself was to avoid looking like the standard tacky American tourist, which believe me I saw so many, while on my trip to Austria and Europe. It's very tempting when you're walking a whole lot, the weather fluctuates to steamy hot to pouring wet. So here's the first real day's outfit, and I was asked to wear the uniform orchestra tee shirt, so here's what I got out of something that could've been very blah:
